Sauska Brut Méthode Traditionelle

Sauska is a relatively young winery, founded in 2006, and is the result of an unbridled passion for a beautiful product: Hungarian wine. What is special about Hungary is that different parts of the country produce different types of wines. For example, Tokaj in the east is especially known for its white and dessert wines, made from Furmint. Villány, in the south of the country, is known for producing beautiful red wines. The unique aspect of Sauska is that they have a winery in three locations: in Tokaj, in Villány, and in Budapest. In the latter, they produce some of their sparkling wines! A central theme at every Sauska winery and vineyard is sustainability. For 15 years, they have had an important goal to protect and even enhance biodiversity in the vineyards. Thus, they plant various types of flowers and shrubs between the vines to encourage the growth of different insects and small animals. Weeds are controlled by laying a thick layer of straw between the vines, depriving them of light and preventing growth. Since 2018, they have released Southdown Babydoll sheep into the vineyards. These mini sheep with short legs are a natural pest control: they maintain the vegetation between the vines but are too small to reach the grapes! What is high, however, is their cuddle factor.
