Potzinger Sauvignon Blanc "Joseph" Ried Sulz
Description
Complex aromas, delicate use of wood, both spices and herbs, and fine fruit.
Ripe grapes, herbs, wood, spices, and gooseberries.
Joseph is the top Sauvignon Blanc from Potzinger, sourced from the renowned, historic Sulz vineyard. Joseph is obtained through bottle aging and is usually best enjoyed 5-15 years after bottling. Ried Sulz faces south, shielded from the alpine climate in the west and open to the east. The vineyards are situated at 370 to 450 meters above sea level with slopes up to 50 percent. The Ried Sulz is characterized by Opok (calcareous marl), intersected by conglomerates and sandstone. The combination of heavy, lime-rich clay soil and conglomerates results in a wine with citrus and many floral notes. The Sulz vineyard is one of the warmest locations in Southern Styria. The vines enjoy warmth and light from early morning until late evening. The location is protected towards the Koralpe, and cold air also flows into a valley that opens to the east.
Perfect for: modern pan-Asian fusion cuisine or classic regional cuisine from Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, India. Also very delicious with strong meat and fish dishes, including boiled beef. Decanting is recommended.
